i stayed in a twin room and it was spacious. the village green view was so nice. the bar atmosphere felt cute. i was able to relax and catch up with work while enjoying lunch.
the staff didn't show me to a table and told me to choose a smaller one. it was a minor thing.

Really good Service and Cozy Room

room 3 featured a four poster bed and a chaise longue. a bath added to the luxurious feel as a christmas present. i enjoyed the river view from the room and the sounds of water and horses. the staff welcomed me warmly and offered great ideas for my days including their local knowledge.
the bar felt slightly dark plus dated upon my arrival i did not feel very welcomed there.

the hotel is situated well within the national park so guests can explore west somerset and north devon. nearby olde world villages like dunster and dulverton offer sightseeing and walking activities. dunkery beacon can be reached with a walk before breakfast.

i found the breakfast and dinner food to be perfect here and i recommend the venison steak. the hotel also provides a variety of ales including exmoor ale and exmoor gold. a treacle sponge is offered as a dessert option.

the location allowed for some pleasant walks without driving.
I was disappointed with the food options. The restaurant menu available in the bar was much more limited than expected and influenced our decision to book there in the first place.

The breakfast food tasted delicious and was served hot! The parking was close and convenient, directly outside. The outdoor terrace provided a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the weather. It was clean.
